PocketBase itself is free, open-source software under the MIT license — you can download it and run it anywhere at no cost. What you pay for is somewhere to run it: your own VPS (plus the time to patch, back up, and monitor it), or managed hosting. On PocketBase Cloud the Free plan hosts one PocketBase instance with frontend hosting for $0; Starter is $10/month and Pro is $25/month flat.
Yes. It runs one PocketBase instance with frontend hosting at no cost, and you can deploy the moment you sign up — no card for the first 7 days. To keep the plan after that we ask for a card to keep bots out; it is never charged. The limits are 50 MB of storage and 5000 API requests per hour — past that, the API answers 429 until the next hour while your data and admin panel stay untouched. An instance with no API traffic for 30 days is paused, after email reminders, and removed 15 days later; one click resumes it before then. Starter and Pro have none of these limits.
Pro is a flat $25/month for your own dedicated server (2 vCPU) in one of 12 regions you pick at checkout. It is ready within 48 hours. You pay for the server, not per app, so you can run as many PocketBase instances, frontends and backends on it as fit. Frontends barely use it and each PocketBase instance is light, so dozens fit; backends are what fill it first. Nothing is metered, and we tell you before you reach its ceiling.
Yes. Starter and Pro are available on yearly billing at two months free — $100/year and $250/year. Choose Yearly when you subscribe from the Plan page, or switch an existing monthly plan there in one click; your plan and any add-ons move to yearly together. If you are on an older price we have grandfathered, email us and we will set your yearly subscription up at your rate.
Those platforms bill per running service plus a separate database, plus CPU, RAM, and bandwidth as you use them, so the invoice moves with your traffic and your number of projects.
